Translation
I know, dear Lord, the audacity
of writing of Thee with the unworthy pen,
but Thy greatness is so benevolent
that it asks for human will, not knowledge alone.
This will, for you, is the harmony
which is most pleasing to Thee,
for there is no music so strange and beautiful
as the poem which guides our thoughts to Thee
Be Thou the only focus of my music,
and let thy criticisms show
my wit, my speech and my nerve,
because if the simple and pure will
pleases the Greatest Sovereignty,
how glorious, Lord, what bliss!
